Orissa University Of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar was established in 1962 with only two Colleges of Agriculture and Veterinary Science, has made impressive record of service in the cause of quality education. In the pace of decades the University has grown with seven colleges and one Centre for Post-Graduate studies with different departments.

The objectives of the university are to make provision for the education mainly of the rural people of the state of Orissa in agriculture and to promote research, field and extension programs in agriculture and agriculture production
The mission of the University is to bring quantitative change in life of the farmers through human resource development, technological advancement and dissemination of technologies related to agriculture and allied sciences.
Goals and Objectives
In line with the mandate and mission of the university, the goals and objectives have been projected as follows.
Orissa has ten agro-climatic zones and all of them come under the purview of the University. The major areas of research include breeding of crop varieties, generating tissue culture plantlets, crop production, crop protection, horticulture, forestry, animal and veterinary sciences, agricultural implements and machinery, post-harvest technology and value addition, watershed management in command and dry land areas, seed technology, impact of climate in agricultural production, etc.

The placement cell of the institute arranges PDPs, workshops, seminars, mock interview, industrial visit, expert lecture, summer internships, soft skills development programs and placement assistance for the students.
